The Deception of Lauren Daigle and Her Music
READING TIME: 29 MINUTES
The following are the notes to the discussion found at this link (https://www.facebook.com/tammy.cheetham.77/videos/510324359467277/) for anyone who would like to study the subject more in depth.
We wanted to have a discussion concerning Lauren Daigle mainly after seeing posts about her appearance on the Ellen show. I have also seen many posts over the last few months of people saying she has such a beautiful voice and so forth. So, we thought it would be worthwhile to do some research and have a discussion. Sister Tammy, would you begin by sharing the information you have gathered, please?
I would like to share with you the implications within the ministry of Lauren Daigle who appeared on the Ellen Show as sister Connie has already spoken about.
Lauren shared a song called “Still Rolling Stones.” I will share the lyrics to the song in the note but will just explain one part in the second verse of this song to show some implications with it. The voice of a Savior – a Saviour can mean anything, she doesn’t define who she is talking about here. The rest of the lyrics can be made to fit whatever kind of a saviour people have in their minds. We hear secular songs sung by the likes of Prince and Red Hot Chili Peppers singing of a Saviour. (These did not and do not glorify God in their music) Stating a Saviour can mean anyone, so we need to define Jesus is Saviour when we talk about Him. This was not mentioned in her lyrics on this show. (https://genius.com/Lauren-daigle-still-rolling-stones-lyrics)
Also, I want to explain a few things about my concerns with her presence at this show. When the Holy Spirit is present we know as believers that conviction of sin, righteousness and judgment will be also. Jesus will be lifted up. This was not seen in the show at all as we know Ellen DeGeneres is an openly lesbian woman with no conviction to change her lifestyle after the meeting with Lauren Daigle. She didn’t even feel uncomfortable in her sin and that it was all too lovey-dovey of a meeting, but what can we expect when Jesus isn’t really lifted up?
Here is a link to a video from Facebook explaining a little more about the Holy Spirit’s role: (https://www.facebook.com/tammy.cheetham.77/videos/vb.100014691523242/506611543171892/?type=3)
Lauren Daigle also attended the Together 2016, and this was a Dominionist/Ecumenical event in which Catholics and so-called Christians came together. Here is a link for further information on this event to discuss its problems. (http://herescope.blogspot.co.uk/2016/07/resetting-reformation.html)
She said on her Facebook page about this event: “Together 2016. Live from the National Mall. This is really incredible.” The comments on her post were mainly saying how incredible she was, yet one comment did try to warn of the problems with this leading to a one world religion and nothing was addressed, sad to say.
She spoke at Together 2016 and this is some of what she said here: "It's going into the places that are dangerous and saying, 'OK God, I'm going to partner with you in this mission to go after that person who can potentially harm me.' Or to go after the homeless and say, 'I'm going to love you,'" Daigle shared.
"I consider the homeless just as important as the riches of the rich. Taking all of the earthly facades down and instead saying, 'I want to pursue the world with an effort of love.'"
She added: "I feel like that's the way to empower people. That's the reason to go out in your community and say, 'Alright, this isn't a worldly effort — to bring forth to the people who are hurting and not to look at the world with judgment and ridicule and pointing the finger. But instead saying: 'I know the answer that you're actually craving. Your actions are just seeking from a place of hurt and I want to show you what love actually looks like.'"
She again mentions love and in much of these endeavors, but not really giving anyone the reason Jesus came to this earth, to die for sinners and to give them an eternal hope. It all homes in on the here and now and no true salvations are coming from these events. She has a lot to say that tickles peoples ears and encourages works and acts of kindness but when all said and done, what about souls and then they are thinking these events what God has not commissioned or even involved in are acceptable! It is one big pot of mess leading souls to accept error and ultimately the one world order.
Let me just say here there’s nothing wrong with acts of kindness; loving the homeless and loving your enemies. This is part of being a believer, but that isn’t the gospel as we continue to share. So please don’t think we’re demeaning these things when we say this, but just to get first things first. We are saved by grace through faith and the sin problem needs to be addressed before these other things. Just to put that clear, we’re not against good works and acts of kindness. These will follow, but what about the soul of these people?
Tedashii was also in attendance at Together 2016/2018 and there are many implications with the spirit of Hip Hop and how this is a religion of its own. I will include a video explaining the problems with this as Lauren seems to have no understanding whatsoever on the spirit behind the music: (https://www.facebook.com/tammy.cheetham.77/videos/vb.100014691523242/502073796959000/?type=3)
Now I just would like to address an article I saw online titled – Lauren Daigle on Her Grammy Nom & Why She's a 'Rebellious' Christian Artist (https://www.billboard.com/articles/news/grammys/7684892/lauren-daigle-grammy-nomination)
This talks about how Lauren started her music and she stated “when I was sick in bed, I was having like, dreams and visions about different career stages and different awards, and the Grammys was actually one of them. I saw it like it was real. I started thinking like, am I having cabin fever? I kind of thought I was losing my mind there for a second. As time progressed, I just thought, "If I'm supposed to do this, God, you're just going to have to make a way for me to get out of bed and make it happen." Slowly, but surely doors started opening.” Now here we have problems in we see Lauren trusting dreams and visions that take her outside of God’s Word – God would not encourage anyone in different career stages and awards including the Grammy awards that are not lifting up Jesus, but the person. Using a gift to glorify God would not be a career. It is an act of worship and not about using these things for self-gratification, but for souls to come to the salvation Jesus provides through His blood. She never speaks anything about this but just like a regular artist that is all about their career.
Lauren continues in the interview when asked - Were you always aiming for Christian music, or did you want to make pop music as well?
When I was sick, I told God, "Whatever you do don't send me to Christian music, I don't want to be associated with any of that." Of course, that's where I land. He had to show me more of what I actually cared about, through the process. I definitely don't want to only make music in the Christian genre. I want to expand, and kind of dive into whatever else is in store, but that doesn't mean I don't love what I get to do as well. I've always been friends with anyone and everyone, so I didn’t want all my friends to think, "What is Lauren doing going into Christian music? This is so bizarre."
I really feel this speaks for itself. How on earth would a true believer feel ashamed of going into Christian music and what her friends thought about this? She seems to not want to make music only in the Christian genre so this opens her up to all kinds of things which are worldly and also as mentioned about the spirit that is behind different forms of music are very dangerous. Music was giving by God for one purpose, to glorify Him and worship Him. We see the enemy at work in this area because he desires this for himself and will come in all directions to try and mix the two to deceive people. We understand the Bible tells us to remain separate and sing hymns, psalms and spiritual songs, making melody in our hearts to the Lord.
The interviewer continues - Defining what’s “contemporary Christian” can feel a bit arbitrary -- you could argue that Chance the Rapper’s Coloring Book fits, but it’s categorized as hip-hop.
Lauren states - When I listened to [Coloring Book], I was like "Oh, my gosh, this is amazing!" And hearing what he did with the record, how he made it and how he did it on the financial end -- just giving it away -- I was like, "Okay, this is rad. I don't know who this guy is, but I want to meet him!" Like, that's the essence of soul, the whole point is for music to be this unifying thing. When you see people taking that leap that he took, I was blown away.
As mentioned above there is a spirit behind the music of hip hop and I would recommend people click on the link to the video explaining some of it roots and missing of the one world religion. Talking about the financial thing makes us wonder what she means by this, we never use the gift of God for making money. The issue with the unifying thing is a great concern looking at all her ecumenical alliances and problems concerning no preaching of the true gospel going out, her friendship with Ellen and secular artists that again are not hearing the true Gospel. Lauren has clearly gone off into the world and friendship with the world is enmity with God.
Thank you so much for all that information, sister Tammy. I pray that people will take heed.
Now, I want to continue with some more information concerning her appearance on the Ellen show and then I will continue with information from different interviews, videos, and articles.
After Lauren finished her song on Ellen’s show, Ellen came over and they hugged and Ellen said, “So good.” She went on to say she had been a judge on American Idol for one season and that Lauren had been on during that season. Ellen says, “And, look at her now; because of me.” She’s obviously joking, but Lauren laughs and says, “Because of you.” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RcjgIEtKes8) (Sister Tammy, you and I have read a lot of comments people have made concerning this appearance and one line of thinking is Lauren wasn’t being interviewed so she couldn’t share the gospel. But, right at this point she could have given glory to God rather than even jokingly giving it to Ellen. Although just to say we don’t really believe God has guided her steps and after we present all the information we have gathered we pray the listeners won’t think so either).
And, just to add, she appeared on American Idol in 2010, 2011, and 2012 and she would have been 19, 20, and 21 respectively at the time of these shows. For the 2012 appearance she sang "Baby Love" and "Stop In The Name Of Love" by The Supremes at Las Vegas group round while wearing a sparkly minidress. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RzZyYwQvHww) (Now, she began dealing with the illness you mentioned, sister Tammy, at the age of 15 and said that God gave her dreams and visions concerning her career during that time. But, we cannot imagine by any stretch of the imagination that these appearances would be something God wanted for her life. There are many people out there sadly who have been encouraged to seek a “dream destiny” by the modern seeker-sensitive churches which is not of God).
Now I want to mention an interview Lauren did for a radio program entitled “The Wally Show” on WayFm concerning her appearance on the Ellen show. (https://www.wayfm.com/content/wally/uncategorized-wally/lauren-daigle-on-ellen-draft/?fbclid=IwAR1Z5Bh8m-VYn1JZGq0THrv6Tadi39eAZvymdvTqiNVbMmdXmB66uYKK0bM) This radio program plays Contemporary Christian music, conducts interviews, and discusses a variety of topics.
The first thing the host says is that he is so proud of Lauren for appearing on Ellen’s show so we know the direction the interview will go. Right away we learn that Lauren was the first CCM artist to perform on the show and she had no hesitation in doing so. Then, she said, “The second we start drawing lines around which people are able to be approached and which aren’t, we’ve already completely missed the heart of God.” The host said it’s so sad when the person people are making judgments about sounds more like Jesus than those judging Lauren because Ellen is kind, inclusive, and caring towards people. Lauren says after the filming ended that Ellen closed the show by saying to the audience, “The same joy that you felt here today, the same acceptance of people and the kindness of other people, the generosity of other people that you have felt in this room, let that be the thing that you go out into the world with.” Lauren says, “And it was beautiful. I don’t have all the answers in life and I’m not going to act like I do, but one thing I know for sure, I can’t choose who I’m supposed to be kind to, who I’m supposed to show love to, and who not. Because that’s the mission, right? Be Christ to everyone as well.” (Well, we recognize that Lauren and the host are confused about a few things. First of all, loving people as Jesus did, and being kind to people as Jesus was, means sharing the gospel first and foremost. Being kind, inclusive, and caring doesn’t mean a person is like Jesus. Many atheists have these qualities. A person could have these qualities while pursuing a lifestyle of sin, as is true for Ellen and true for many people who may be committing other sins. And, then, Lauren shares that Ellen closed the show with statements that basically urge people to all accept one another. Lauren thinks this is beautiful, but if Lauren’s appearance on Ellen’s show leads any gay people to believe God is fine with this sin, then that is just tragic because He absolutely is not).
Lauren posted this interview on her Facebook page and here are a few comments there: “Jesus touched the lepers and talked with the Samaritans, both of which wasn’t supposed to happen. I think Jesus had a big smile on his face that one of His children reached out in love to further His kingdom! I might add Jesus ate with the sinners. I also might add...look at Matthew who was called to be a disciple who was a tax collector and stole from people.” (However, we know that Jesus’ purpose in eating with sinners was for people to repent. There was conviction; there was a change. Jesus wasn’t just hanging out).
Lauren, I am a Christian who proudly loves Ellen! It’s seriously so sad people would take this stand for either you or Ellen and it’s not how we should behave. Showing love and being kind to everyone is the correct way to behave. Those who judge because of Ellen’s life style should maybe re visit the verse Judge lest you be judged! Or those without sin cast the first stone. (However, if someone alters the Person and work of Jesus, they have created “another Jesus” (2 Cor. 11:4). Many would say they believe Jesus is the Son of God and died for their sins. But, in their belief system this “Jesus” has been changed in some way and is not the true biblical Jesus. Jesus doesn’t accept homosexuality so this person doesn’t know the true Jesus).
And why do we assume Ellen isn’t a believer??!! She shows more kindness than some self-proclaimed Christians! (We cannot pursue a lifestyle of sin. Plenty of atheists are kind. But, this kind of thinking is a result of many denominations which accept gay couples in their membership and even as ministers behind their pulpits which is just heartbreaking).
I rejoice because Lauren shared God’s love and the gospel with Ellen and her audience that day. Thank you Lauren, for your gift of music, and for sharing it with the world! (However, Lauren didn’t mention sin, repentance, forgiveness and the song doesn’t either. As you discussed, sister Tammy, the word savior could mean anything. People can be saved from drowning, from a fire, or many types of things).
There were a handful of proper, biblical responses, thankfully, such as this one: Scripture does not match many of the comments here. God never stops calling us to righteousness. In all encounters with Jesus people were changed they didn’t stay the same! Yes everything is level at the foot of the cross, but repentance is required.
And, then we want to mention that Lauren appeared on “The Tonight Show” on Nov. 7th singing “Look Up Child.”
She announced this on her Facebook page on Oct. 31 with this statement: SURPRISEEE!!!! Personal dream ✅ So excited to announce that I will be on Jimmy Fallon! I always said that if I ever make it on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon I would run and slide on his desk. That would be my dream entrance. Who knows what could happen 🤷🏼♀️ Tune in Wednesday 11/7.
Here are some comments about this post: First Ellen DeGeneres....now Jimmy Fallon......Let the WORLD (literally!!) listen about the Love of the One and Only, the Almighty, our Savior that is #StillRollingStones!!! #Jesus ALLELUIA!!! Lauren Daigle Sing Sister!!! (This love everyone keeps going on about isn’t presented truthfully. The amazing love that God has shown for mankind in sending Jesus to die for our sins so we can be reconciled to Him and not have to spend an eternity in hell needs to be clearly stated so sinners will be convicted and repent. We think about Peter preaching on the Day of Pentecost and the people were so convicted they cried out, “What must we do to be saved?” Now, I know Lauren wasn’t preaching, but we have heard songs that truly preach the gospel and neither “Still Rolling Stones” or “Look Up Child” do so).
Her music acknowledges our Lord and Savior. This outreach is incredible. (Sadly, this is where so many are in the modern church world. Just acknowledge Jesus exists. Nothing about sin or repentance. I want to read James 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. So, for her music to just acknowledge Jesus is not as wonderful as most people believe).
From an article in the Christian post we learn that the song, “Look Up Child,” debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart upon its release in September, beating out popular secular musicians such as Drake and Ariana Grande. Lauren said, "I feel like there are moments where you feel in life, that you're partnering with God. You can feel where there's this closeness and this breath that comes from doing what it is that you're created to do. It comes whenever you see the fruit of impacting other people, when it's not just for yourself. That's the part that makes it all the more rich. (First of all, we can be willing vessels and serve the Lord, but we do not partner with Him. You mentioned her also using this phrase at Together 2016, sister Tammy, so she may truly believe this is the way it works in ministry. And, I have heard many other people use this phrase, but it’s quite disrespectful to say anything that even alludes to us being on the same level with God. You know, God is the Potter and we are the clay. We are His children. There is, sadly, so much talk that elevates man and denigrates God and it is absolutely wrong to do so in any way. And then, we must ask is this really what she was created to do? To sing songs which make vague references to Jesus and God?)
She continues: "I think a lot of Christian backlash is just because they're not used to being comfortable in an environment that might feel compromising. It doesn't mean that you have to compromise; it just means that the environment feels more compromising. So I think that's the part that I just constantly go back to, 'What is the Great Commission? To go out into the world, preaching about His love, sharing the good news.' That's how I look at it." (https://www.christianpost.com/news/lauren-daigle-stepping-outside-walls-church-but-not-choosing-mainstream-over-christian-227810/) (But, unless you specifically share the gospel, addressing the fact we are sinners in need of a Saviour, you haven’t shared the good news. Again, preaching about His love means you mention the price He paid for mankind so that we don’t have to go to hell).
And, then in an interview for Entertainment Weekly “Daigle attributes the success of Look Up Child to her home state of Louisiana. Growing up, she listened to classic rock, and her school played Aretha Franklin’s ‘Respect’ before the Pledge of Allegiance. ‘Music is such a part of our culture down there,’ she says. ‘It (speaking of Louisiana) really shaped everything I love musically.’” https://ew.com/music/2018/09/28/lauren-daigle-breakout-look-up-child-interview/ (So, she does not praise God for this song’s success, but rather credits the culture of Louisiana. And, this culture rather than God, shaped everything she loves musically. These are huge red flags).
Now, I want to mention Lauren’s role at the 2018 American Music Awards held on October 9. She presented the award for soul/R&B album of the year. Additionally, she won the AMA for Favorite Artist: Contemporary Inspirational. Other artists nominated in this category included MercyMe and Zach Williams. This was Daigle's third straight year for winning in this category. (http://www.thechristianbeat.org/index.php/news/5345-lauren-daigle-wins-american-music-award-three-years-in-a-row)
While she was at the awards she was interviewed twice. Sister Tammy, would you play the first video now, please? (:54 to 1:35 mark) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKiHtBZxvyU)
(So she is asked what she’s learned from going on tour and she talks about the power of music being transformative? But, Christian music should point people to Jesus and His transformative power. He is the only One Who can change hearts. The other interviewer asks how she keeps up the pace on tour. She says she takes vitamins. So no mention of God with either question).
Now, here are two comments after this video: As Christian's it's not our right to judge Lauren for not talking about God every waking second; we all know she's a fellow believer. As a fellow Christian I love that Lauren respects all. She's on a secular interview so she has to keep mum on the God talk. (Well, this person is obviously confused. What is the point of being a Christian musician and going into different venues if one has to keep mum on the God talk?)
This is not the first interview I've seen she's done and not once did she mention Jesus Christ. She talks about herself a lot. She is not a Christian. You will know who Jesus's disciples are by the fruit they show. (Well, that is a very insightful comment).
Sister Tammy, would you play the second interview at this time, please? (1:11 to 2:27) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__uTD-9JYLU)
(So when the interviewer says her music is so inspiring and asks Lauren what it’s like to have her music out there, she gives all the glory to the music, essentially, saying how powerful it is, but nothing about God or the change Jesus has made in her life and can make in others? And, then, she hopes people get touched by music, through any form, through any medium. So apparently she has no problem with any style of music, but sister Tammy, as you mentioned, you recently did a video about hip-hop and all the problems with it. And, many people have written about the demonic influences behind rock music, heavy metal and so forth. So, it is very concerning that she would make such a blanket statement. And, she says there’s a weightiness, but instead of saying she gives it all to Jesus and He carries her through, she says she chooses to stick with the fun? Where’s the party at; let’s have a good time? These statements are quite concerning coming from someone who claims to be a Christian and who has such an influential platform).
Here are a couple of comments after this video: “Wow, I honestly was shocked to see this and was disappointed that she never credited God or spoke about Him. I really enjoy her music but the more she grows popular the more I see her mixing in the world.” (And, that obviously is the true danger. Sister Tammy, you and I have mentioned the Seven Mountain mandate many times in these discussions and we know many people have this idea that we can change Hollywood, for example, by putting Christians in the Arts and Entertainment mountain. But, the nature of man is we are more likely to be dragged down in the muck and mire rather than rescuing anyone else from it).
This video made all the Pharisees come out. Love how God is using you Lauren; you're firmly planted in Him and it shows. Ignore the haters. (And, of course, it is much easier to just denounce anyone as a hater who is trying to warn rather than to listen to the warnings).
Now, I want to mention a couple of points from a video called “Lauren Daigle is an Enemy of God.” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MGIF0VWdd2Q) Both of the clips we shared are also part of this video and it makes many points we already had planned to share so I don’t want to take the time to play any of this one.
One point is that out of 29 songs Lauren has performed only two mention Jesus by name. (And, in response someone might be thinking, yes but she says You and Yours throughout the songs, but “you” even capitalized could address any deity. Now, I am not saying I think she believes in Hinduism or anything, but we have often said in these discussions that we believe Contemporary Christian music is preparing people to worship the antichrist and that is why I believe Satan influences these artists to use the word “You” in their lyrics).
Previously I mentioned that she presented the soul/R&B album of the year at the American Music awards. The winner of this award was a rapper and hip hop artist named XXXTentacion. The video mentions one of his songs and has the lyrics, but I absolutely will not repeat any of the lines because there were a lot of references to sex and violence. And, then, concerning this rapper himself, he was in trouble with the law many times. While in juvenile detention for a gun possession charge, he severely beat a cellmate he suspected was gay for staring at him. He was arrested in October of 2017 in Miami-Dade County and charged with aggravated battery of a pregnant woman and domestic battery by strangulation. (https://www.spin.com/2017/12/xxxtentacion-accusations-timeline/) (There are many more accounts of abuse, but I believe these are enough for the listeners to understand that a Christian shouldn’t be involved in such a presentation. And, just to note the singer’s mother actually accepted the award because the man was shot and killed in a robbery incident this past June).
Now, I want to mention a couple of her songs besides the ones we have already mentioned. She has a song entitled “Trust in You” which she wrote after her grandfather passed away from cancer, but she wasn’t a huge fan of it musically. “It’s the most bubble gum on the record with a lot of Christian-ese language, but it ended up being the one that has brought the most healing to people,” she said. (https://www.myajc.com/blog/music/from-north-point-ministries-the-grammys-christian-singer-lauren-daigle-roll/GdldVPcmtM3sGskf3FC1vO/)
(So, yet again she is praising the music for helping people. But, is it really music that heals and helps people, though, or is it Jesus Himself? Someone may say that’s splitting hairs because they think this music is about Jesus so that means it is Jesus who is doing the healing. But, if someone says a song, even one ostensibly about Jesus, is what heals people, then in a sense they have created a type of mediator between people and Jesus. Now, we have the example of David playing the harp for King Saul and this music does soothe him, but it is an absolute stretch to say music literally heals anyone. And, then we see that either the music gets the credit or the person singing it gets the credit. Additionally, how many people are enamored of Lauren Daigle’s voice? How many people have said her voice is just amazing? So, who is being lifted up - Lauren Daigle or Jesus? The answer is obvious).
And, then, in an interview for a CBN article, Lauren stated: “My heart’s cry is that people feel empowered as a body of Christ. It’s just heavy on my heart for all of us to rise up in unity and recognize the goodness of God.” (And, we know she is a proponent for unity in the “church” world today due to her participation in Together 2016. And, as you mentioned, sister Tammy, this event was completely ecumenical, having the pope’s blessing, while also featuring Catholic leader Matteo Calisi and Catholic CCM artist Matt Maher).
Continuing with this article, we learn that Lauren penned “Trust in You” with Michael Farren. “‘Trust In You’ came from a series of transitions in my life,” she explains. “My grandfather had just passed away and he and I were super close…I was telling Michael Farren about it and he told me about a book he was reading by a man who once worked for Mother Teresa. Upon arriving, she said, ‘Is there anything I can do for you? And he said, ‘Yes, you can pray for me. You can pray that I have clarity.’ And she said, ‘No, I am not going to pray that you have clarity because clarity is the last thing that’s holding you back.’ He said, ‘Mother Teresa what are you talking about? You have had clarity your whole life.’ She said, ‘No, I’ve never had clarity. I’ve only had trust.’ When I heard that, I knew it was not about seeing the big picture. It’s about trusting that the Lord is going to be there for you.” (https://www1.cbn.com/music/lauren-daigle-bio) (Well, the fact that Lauren shares this story would seem to mean she believes Catholics are Christians and that it is perfectly fine to promote Mother Teresa).
In addition Lauren has a song entitled “This Girl.” (https://genius.com/Lauren-daigle-this-girl-lyrics) A third of the song’s lines are “This girl ain't going anywhere.” (As with most of her other songs it has the words You and Yours, but not Jesus or God. One line is “I've searched the world to find my heart is Yours.” However, there is no mention of how to have this relationship).
Here are a few other items, interviews and such:
From an article at newsreleasetoday.com written in October of 2017 we learn that Lauren received the opportunity to write a song for a movie entitled “Blade Runner 2049” when her management was contacted by record label Alcon Sleeping Giant, requesting her talents…After accepting the gig and flying to LA, it took Lauren and a writing team only two days to finish the song. "There is a moment in the writing room that I wait for, the moment where I can feel God breathe on something," Lauren said of her writing experience. Lauren described her heart behind the song and how she drew on some deep, redemptive themes from the movie to bring it to life: "We, as humans, long for hope. We long for love. We long for value. I was walking through a time where I needed to be reminded of those same things… Although, I had never seen Blade Runner 2049, I was told the synopsis of the story during the writing session… We, as humans, can be tossed aside and undervalued even while giving life your hardest fight, your best effort. This is where I see my need for something greater. This is where I see my need for God to give me the hope I long for, the love I'm desperately wired for, and the value my identity searches for." (https://www.newreleasetoday.com/news_detail.php?newsid=2709) (Well, first of all, this movie was rated R for "violence, some sexuality, nudity, and language" and if she didn’t know this fact she should have asked. (https://www.esquire.com/uk/culture/film/news/a16584/blade-runner-2049-r-rated/) Again, we have this whole issue of those who would call themselves Christians even being involved in movies, award shows, and so forth. This mixture causes confusion and the concepts of holiness and separation are absolutely shoved underneath the carpet. And, here is another example of getting one’s name out there, and while she does actually mention God in this interview, she doesn’t share the gospel; she doesn’t explain this hope. And, her identity is searching for value? You know, this talk of value and worth wouldn’t have even been addressed before the advent of psychology. It’s quite sad that believers around the world are being persecuted and killed for the cause of Christ and in this culture many who claim to know Christ are overwhelmingly concerned with their value. So much so, that “preachers” like Todd White and others address people in the streets with statements such as “God thinks you’re so awesome.” They say people will listen to them once they tell them they’re absolutely wonderful. But, then after you finish telling people they’re so awesome how do you tell them they’re sinners in desperate need of a Saviour?)
And, then we have the fact that Lauren’s song “Rescue” was played in an episode of Grey’s Anatomy. One article stated, “And while Daigle’s ‘Rescue‘ was used in Grey’s Anatomy as a generic background song appropriate for the scenes it plays behind, it is a Christian song.” (https://leosigh.com/listen-to-lauren-daigles-rescue-from-greys-anatomy-season-15-episode-7/) (But, again, as with the awards show and so forth, it seems to be more about getting one’s name and music out there rather than truly preaching the gospel. If a song does not mention Jesus or God the line “It's true, I will rescue you” could refer to any number of people or situations. A completely secular show such as Grey’s Anatomy obviously found the lyrics so vague they could apply to that episode’s story line).
In addition, Lauren was the featured vocalist for a song entitled “Hard Love” which was part of the soundtrack for the movie, “The Shack.” We have a clip of some statements she made concerning this movie: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=jCrLEix_56o&fbclid=IwAR1ncXn1uqDz2SloNIEmSvqUhrnJFOPv8qiYb1WXnwJ2O2uRtk_0qDA9Dl4&app=desktop) (start to 1:17 mark) (But, God is clearly addressed as Father all throughout the Bible. That means, He takes the form of a man, not a woman. Since so many people take their theology from movies these days it is dangerous to misrepresent Him in any way).
(Well, that is all I have at this time, sister Tammy, except that many people get excited about “celebrity Christian entertainers.” However, if the gospel someone presents makes him or her popular, they are not presenting the true gospel and we have clearly shown this concerning Lauren Daigle. You know, in Matthew 10:22 we have a picture of what life will be like for true believers who are preaching the gospel and warning about false teachers. “And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.” Sadly, with Lauren we see someone who more so fits this verse: “For Demas has forsaken me, having loved this present world” (2 Tim. 4:10). And, that is just heartbreaking to have to say).
I’m sure you could agree, sister Connie, that we’re deeply praying for these souls that we’ve spoken about in this discussion. I mean no matter what sin has been involved, as we’ve spoken about - there’s been many - but that Jesus is the solution. And, we do urgently pray for the repentance of these souls and the salvation because we do not desire that any would go down the path to hell and eternally the lake of fire. Ellen, and Lauren herself, and these artists that we’ve shared about, you know, we desire that they would be saved, that they would know the true love that is in Jesus Christ. That He came to this world as a Man, yet fully God. He came to save and actually seek the lost. And, that He came to save people from their sins and this is what is being left out by so many things you’ve shared. The main thing that is missing is the gospel and that is the main thing a Christian ought to be about.
