An Expose of Brian Simmons and the Passion Translation
The following are the notes to the discussion found at this link (https://www.facebook.com/tammy.cheetham.77/videos/504073070092406/) for anyone who would like to study the subject more in depth.
We wanted to have a discussion on this translation since we have noticed its increasing popularity and use in the NAR movement. We want to present some biographical information about Brian Simmons, discuss some issues with the Passion translation, give specific examples of verses he has changed to fit the NAR philosophy, some of the dominionist beliefs he promotes, share some of the endorsements for this translation, and share some from an article he has written.
So, beginning with his biographical information, here is what appears at the “About” section of his Facebook page: “Brian and Candice Simmons have been described as pioneers, prophets, and pastors. After a dramatic conversion to Christ in 1971 Brian answered the call of God to leave everything behind and become a missionary to the Kuna people group in the jungle of Central America. As a linguist, Brian also was the co-translator for the Kuna New Testament.
While Brian was in the missionary harvest fields God, the Lord of the harvest, spoke in an audible voice early one morning saying: “Revival is coming to North America and YOU will be a part of this.” From that Divine encounter Brian received fresh understanding of God’s prophetic purposes for the last days awakening among the nations.”(Well, we see huge red flags here first with his claim that God spoke audibly to him. Everybody and their brother claims to hear God speak audibly or see angels or Jesus. We must try the spirits. If a person brings false teachings he is not hearing God’s audible voice.I want to read 1 Timothy 4:1,“Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.” This is really what we are dealing with here: seducing spirits and doctrines of devils because false teaching is obviously of the devil and we cannot be too strong in saying this. And, then concerning the fact that the voice said, “revival is coming to North America,” we have explained over and over that an end times revival is not prophesied, but rather God’s Word says we will have perilous times and evil men and seducers will wax worse and worse. I will include the link to our article concerning this matter which includes many, many scriptures for anyone who wants to study this further. You know, he’s trying to say he heard God’s voice that revival is coming to America so there’s one huge false teaching right there.
Continuing with the biography: “Basing their ministry in New England, Brian and Candice started Gateway Christian Fellowship, an apostolic church and training center in Connecticut.
Having completed his doctoral studies with C. Peter Wagner (WLI) Brian has been commissioned as an apostle to the nations. He also is a frequent instructor for Wagner Leadership Institute on prophetic and apostolic topics for the emerging church. He serves as a part of the Apostolic Team of Harvest International Ministries that oversees thousands of churches worldwide. (Just to note, C. Peter Wagner was the defining father figure of the New Apostolic Reformation since the mid-90’s. He died in 2016. CheAhn and Harvest International Ministries have essentially become the guiding force for the NAR now. So, Brian Simmons’ involvement with these groups places him squarely in the center of the NAR movement. Concerning Simmons’ service as part of the Apostolic Team of Harvest International Ministries, the list of team members reads like a ‘who’s who’ list for the NAR and includes Che and Sue Ahn, James Goll, Wesley and Stacey Campbell, Lou and Therese Engle, Shawn and Cherie Bolz, Patricia and Ron King, Lance and Annabelle Wallnau. The description of this team reads as follows: “Our HIM International Apostolic Team consists of apostles and prophets: including apostles from all 7 spheres of cultural influence and prophets prophetically chosen by the presiding Apostle and Founder of HIM, ChéAhn, and acknowledged by the HIM Apostolic Council. This team functions to help strengthen and advance God’s Kingdom through our HIM apostolic network. ... the apostles on the International Apostolic Team oversee an HIM apostolic center in their respective nation and lead their own network that is likewise aligned with HIM. The prophets on our International Apostolic Team are commissioned and acknowledged internationally for their prophetic office.” (http://harvestim.org/leadership/) (So we can recognizethe affiliations and connections with the NAR movement right from the start and anybody familiar with this movement would recognize those names and recognize all the NAR terminology in that description).
Continuing with Simmons’ biography: Known as dynamic and anointed speakers they now travel the nations releasing this message of end time awakening. Before speaking at churches and events, Brian often receives a visitation from the Lord or a specific dream that will release revelation for the meeting as he shares a ‘now’ word given by the Holy Spirit especially suited for that gathering. Signs and wonders accompany their apostolic ministry.(And, just to say, sister Tammy, we both are continuationists, but there is so much focus on signs and wonders, and words, and revelation knowledge, and so forth, rather than on the preaching of the gospel in the NAR movement).
And, then, Brian is presently working diligently on translating the Bible into a new, exciting version called, The Passion Translation. (https://www.facebook.com/brian.simmons.50/about?lst=100014819433180%3A100002738199063%3A1541000238§ion=bio) (So, I think this biographical information gives us a good idea of his aberrant theology and should already make us suspicious concerning any translation with which he is involved).
Now, I want to share from a Sid Roth program on which Brian Simmons appeared. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VmnZYEteXX8)
I want to begin with the part where he says he and his wife and three kids went to Central America as missionaries. He says the people were very stubborn and close-minded. So, one night he prayed this prayer: “Lord, if you don’t come and move in this village, move in my heart and move in the heart of these tribal people that never understood the gospel: if you don’t move in power, I’m going to go back and tell every supporter, every prayer partner, every church that we’ve ministered in, that You weren’t big enough to tackle the Pia-kuna people and bring them to know You, through Jesus Christ, through the Holy Spirit.” (Well, that is trying to force God’s hand, trying to command Him. You know, when we present the gospel to people there is no guarantee they will receive it. We don’t just go around telling God He has to force people to do so,and that if He doesn’t we will do such and such, especially saying God isn’t big enough to do something. He just that He doesn’t force the gospel on people).
Then Simmons says the next morning the air around the village was supernaturally energized(So, he’s basically letting us know this disrespectful prayer was actually answered). He says he went to every hut in the village and asked the people to forgive him because he had not loved them the way Jesus loves them. He asked them to come that night and let him give them the living message of truth. As he asked them to forgive him, he says the people fell down on the ground and the power of God landed on them. They were trembling on the ground; shaking like a leaf in the wind. The power of the Holy Spirit had fallen on them and they were weeping and they were crying and they had not even believed in Jesus yet. They were experiencing the power of God. (But, this is a different gospel because we cannot be reconciled to God before repenting and being forgiven; before being saved. We do not receive the Holy Spirit before being saved. This is a supernatural power in action, but it isn’t the Holy Spirit).
He then relates the story of God speaking audibly to him which you will share in a few minutes, sister Tammy, so I will skip that part.
Brian Simmons then went back to the United States and founded a church. He recounts an experiencehe had and, sister Tammy, would you play that part at this time, please: 5:52 to 8:18
(Well, since we associate light with God, and light with good, most people assume such an experience is from God. They assume the people in the store who fell out were touched by God; after all, this happened after Brian Simmons was praying, right? But, I want to read an example from the introduction of Sarah Young’s book, “Jesus Calling.” She says, “One morning as I prayed, I visualized God protecting each of us (speaking of her family). I pictured first our daughter, then our son, and then Steve encircled by God’s protective Presence, which looked like golden light. When I prayed for myself, I was suddenly enveloped in brilliant light and profound peace. I lost all sense of time as I experienced God’s Presence in this powerful way. I had not sought the experience, but I received it gratefully and was strengthened by it.” (https://diaryofablueblood.files.wordpress.com/2016/01/jesus-callingpdf.pdf) (Sister Tammy, you and I both pray for people to understand the concept that there is “another Jesus” operating out there and it is not the Jesus of the Bible. The simple fact of the matter is that since 2 Cor. 11:14 says Satan is transformed as an angel of light we don’t assume anything. We test doctrine and since we already heard Brian Simmons say the people in the tribal village had an encounter with God without being saved, we know he is a purveyor of false doctrine and we don’t automatically believe anything he says).
(You know, sister Tammy, so much of this type of activity reminds me of what we have seen with Todd Bentley, for example. All of these people falling down without even being touched. We just see so many people experiencing, or hearing about, something supernatural and automatically assuming it is from God. People claiming they are Christians and they seem to have no understanding that Satan is the prince of the power of the air as Eph. 2:2 says. But, we have heard testimonies of people who were raised in Hinduism who say they regularly witnessed these activities in that religion. Again, a supernatural power is in operation in these situations, but it is not the Holy Spirit).
We will move on to the next part now, and sister Tammy, would you please share what you have found concerning the errors with the Passion translation at this time?
I just would like to share with you a few of the problems with this Passion, what calls itself a translation, but really cannot be called this due to it being so outside of biblical context and actually it is leading people to accept another jesus.
Brian Simmons said - “ I had minimal background in biblical languages, so yeah, it was something that, honestly, something the Lord has really helped me with.”
He stated that he received revelation “downloads” from God that would enable him to translate.
The problem with this is that the Bible tells us to STUDY to show ourselves approved – (2 Tim. 2:15), God works with His Word and not in a weird way where God downloads all this as Simmons’ claims.
The Holy Spirit works with the Truth of God’s Word, line upon line, precept upon precept. -
(Isaiah 28:15) The Word of God must be the source of our instruction and the Holy Spirit will always lead us in this manner. We can see the problems with the different Scriptures he believes God has downloaded to him, as sister Connie will be discussing at some point.
Simmons claims to have received a personal appearance from Jesus and a commissioning from him to produce this translation. He says Jesus promised to give him secrets of the Hebrew language. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VmnZYEteXX8 13:48 mark)
Why would Jesus appear to Simmons in this manner to produce heresy!? The spirit Simmons encountered was not the spirit of the Lord. It was an angel of light. This is the problem when people flock to anything supernatural without checking its source. We are told to try the spirits to see if they be of God. (1 John 4:1)
Simmons just tends to lean upon his own interpretation and ideas as he is going at this on his own as though God told him and no one can dispute him in these matters. There is no working with other members of the body of Christ in this what calls itself a translation, yet really is not. You know we can look back on many books that were given to people when they were visited by angels of light, take the book of Mormon for example. The demonic visitation to Joseph Smith was even described as an angel of light! (Angel Moroni) See how easily people are just taken in by the supernatural! We must, as stated, look to the truth and the source must always be the Word of God!
Simmons’ claims that Jesus showed him a new chapter of the Bible, John 22
The Bible is very clear on this
Deuteronomy 4:2
Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.
Revelation 22:18-19
For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
This “translation” really is fitting for the false teachings of the NAR.
Brian Simmons claims to be an Apostle, so very fittingly this doctrine is perfect for this heretical belief that is leading so many souls to a One World Religion, in the name of another jesus! (2 Cor. 11:4)
Mark 1:15 – Passion
“At last the fulfillment of the age has come! It is time for the realm of God’s kingdom to be experienced in fullness! Turn your lives back to God and put your trust in the hope-filled gospel!”
Mark 1:15 kjv reads - And saying, the time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
Such a subtle twist to meet the conditions of the false NAR teachings and really is not at all what this Scripture is saying.
Jesus was here, the promised Messiah, going to the cross to die for sinners– the time is fulfilled. The Kingdom of God is at hand – for the good news to change the sin sick heart and give the peace, hope and joy in the Holy Ghost! A hope for eternal life! Jesus preached repentance and faith and this is what this is actually homing in on! Not that He was coming to make the world a better place by the fullness of what is promised, which will come at His Second Coming, as though it was already there and then! He was preaching about the Good News for eternal life and Him being there in person was what was spoken of for years and it had been fulfilled. He was saying you need to repent and believe this gospel to be saved!
It has nothing to do with the Kingdom Age literally being here and experienced in fullness, this will come after Jesus returns at the Second coming, but we can see the subtle twist for the NAR proponents to use this for their heresies and lies.
Thank you for that important information, sister Tammy, and I just want to add a bit of information. Here is a quote by someone who has reviewed the translation: “Brian Simmons has made a new translation of the Psalms (and now the whole New Testament) which aims to ‘re-introduce the passion and fire of the Bible to the English reader.’ He achieves this by abandoning all interest in textual accuracy, playing fast and loose with the original languages, and inserting so much new material into the text that it is at least 50% longer than the original…Simmons seems as uninterested in linguistic accuracy as he is in textual accuracy. He searches the dictionary, and sometimes apparently his imagination, for ways to insert new ideas that happen to align with his goals, regardless of their truthfulness. What results from this process may still technically count as a translation of the psalms, because there are many ways to translate, including impressionistic and reader-responsive translations. But, it does not count as a faithful witness to the original text. (http://themelios.thegospelcoalition.org/article/burning-scripture-with-passion-a-review-of-the-psalms-passion-translation) (And, obviously, we should want nothing to do with a translation that is not linguistically and textually accurate. You know, he has done what many pastors do on Sunday mornings which is have new concepts they want their congregations to understand and then they search for scriptures which seemingly have something to do with the topics. Then, the congregations, whose members are not studying God’s Word for themselves, assume it was a Bible-based sermon because some scriptures were mentioned, no matter that they were ripped entirely out of context. And, then, I don’t think we can emphasize enough the fact that this translation is 50% longer than the original texts. You mentioned Deut. 4:2 and Rev. 22:18-19, sister Tammy, concerning adding to God’s Word. I want to know how exactly one creates a translation during which time he is translating the verses that say not to add, but he goes ahead and does it anyway? And, he’s not adding a small amount. It’s very sad).
Now, we want to share some more of the verses he has changed. He has obviously changed many more than we have time to share, but I will focus on ones which promote the false teachings of the NAR as you did with Mark 1:15, sister Tammy.
Ps. 91:1 TPT When you sit enthroned[a] under the shadow of Shaddai,[b] you are hidden[c] in the strength of God Most High. Note for this verse concerning the word he translates as enthroned: “The Hebrew word yashab is often associated with one seated as royalty. It is translated in Ezek. 27:8 as ‘leaders or rulers.'”(However, in the KJV the word enthroned here is translated as dwell. And, the KJV translates yashab as dwell (437x), inhabitant (221x), and sit (172x). You know, just because royalty may dwell, inhabit, or be seated, doesn’t mean yashab is associated with royalty. He is playing fast and loose with the Hebrew meaning).(https://www.blueletterbible.org/lang/lexicon/lexicon.cfm?t=kjv&strongs=h3427)
Gal. 6:6 KJV - Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things.
TPT - And those who are taught the Word will receive an impartation from their teacher; a sharing of wealth takes place between them.(The word impartation is a mainstay in the NAR theology. These are often conferred on church members by official apostles or prophets in the NAR hierarchy).
Proverbs 8:1-3, 6 KJV – “Doth not wisdom cry? and understanding put forth her voice? She standeth in the top of high places, by the way in the places of the paths. She crieth at the gates, at the entry of the city, at the coming in at the doors. Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things.”
TPT – “Can’t you hear the voice of Wisdom? From the top of the mountains of influence she speaks into the gateways of the glorious city. At the place where pathways merge, at the entrance of every portal, there she stands, ready to impart understanding, shouting aloud to all who enter, preaching her sermon to those who will listen. The meaning of my words will release within you revelation for you to reign in life. My lyrics will empower you to live by what is right.” (So, we have the phrase “mountains of influence” which is specifically meant to give credence to the 7MM teaching that asserts believers will take over the seven mountains or spheres of society and by doing so will ultimately “Christianize” such. Then, we have gateways, portal, impart, release revelation, reign in life, and empower, all of which are NAR phrases).
John 5:39 KJV – “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of Me.”
TPT - “You are busy analyzing the Scriptures, frantically poring over them in hopes of gaining eternal life. Everything you read points to me.” (Since NAR adherents value experience over scripture, the phrases “busy analyzing” and “frantically poring over,” are kind of a back-handed swipe at those who place a premium on studying God’s Word. Jesus was telling the Jews they were searching for Him in the scriptures, and there He was right in front of them, and they didn’t want to recognize Him as the Messiah. However, Jesus is not walking around on earth today so we are to study God’s Word to learn of Him. Luke 24:27 says: "And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, He expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning Himself").
2 Timothy 3:17 KJV – “That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.”
TPT – “Then you will be God’s servant, fully mature and perfectly prepared to fulfill any assignment God gives you.” (NAR teachings would have us to believe we have individual assignments beyond preaching the gospel, making disciples, and doing good works. Sadly, Brian Simmons’faulty translation supports this notion and those who rely on this Bible version will fall prey to chasing “dream destinies” God never expected us to achieve).
Now I want to mention some of those endorsing the Passion translation and their comments. Most of these are big names in the NAR movement. (https://www.thepassiontranslation.com/about/endorsements/):
“One of the greatest things to happen with Bible translation in my lifetime.” Bill Johnson Bethel Church (So, a translation which is at least 50% longer than the original, when God says not to add to His Word as we have discussed, sister Tammy, is a great thing in Bill Johnson’s eyes?Huge red flag).
“The Word of God is our collective and yet deeply personal love letter from above. It positions you and me within proven, godly wisdom and gives precious insight into the heart, nature, and goodness of God… With my husband, Brian, and our Hillsong church family, we know these pages will bring to life the One whose name is Jesus—whose passion is humanity and whose heart is for you.”Bobbie Houston - Co-Senior Pastor, Hillsong Church (But, this is coming from the co-pastor of a mega-church which preaches the false WOF and prosperity gospels and whose music is helping prepare people for the antichrist. We did three discussions on Hillsong and I will include the links in case anyone is unfamiliar with the problems with this ministry: (https://www.facebook.com/notes/connie-schuetz-wright/brian-houston-and-hillsong-another-jesus-another-spirit-another-gospel-part-1/379079192596059/); (https://www.facebook.com/notes/connie-schuetz-wright/brian-houston-and-hillsong-another-jesus-another-spirit-another-gospel-part-2/379490505888261/); (https://www.facebook.com/notes/connie-schuetz-wright/brian-houston-and-hillsong-another-jesus-another-spirit-another-gospel-part-3/379495589221086/)
“…My dear friend Brian Simmons brings to the earth a powerful and refreshing translation of the Scriptures that is fueling and inflaming the hearts of tens of thousands worldwide. Like the Living Bible that sprung forth in the days of the Jesus Movement, this translation bursts forth from the womb of this present revival. Read it and get caught up in a God-swirl of spiritual understanding and revelation.” Lou Engle (But, of course, Lou Engle is a major player in both the ecumenical and dominionist movements. He attended both the Azusa Now and Together 2016 events. The listeners may remember that he kissed the feet of Catholic leader, Matteo Calisi, at the Azusa Now event, in an act of reconciliation with the Catholic church. (http://christiannews.net/2016/04/10/lou-engle-of-the-call-prostrates-himself-kisses-foot-of-catholic-leader-as-act-of-reconciliation/) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZhIE87wKk0E)
“With the Mind of a Scholar and Heart of a Lover, Brian Simmons combines the best of both worlds for us in his devoted translation work...What a marvelous job my friend and seasoned leader is doing for the Body of Christ! I applaud the life and ministry of Dr. Brian Simmons!” James Goll (Well, for just a couple of examples as to why we should avoid James Goll, we have the fact that in his 4-part DVD series entitled, “Living a Supernatural Life,” he teaches people how to operate in all nine gifts of the Holy Spirit and how to partner with angels to access their supernatural assistance. But, just to say, the gifts of the Holy Spirit are called “gifts” for a reason. Gifts are given, not purchased, not obtained by reading books, by attending seminars, by listening to DVD series, and so forth. 1 Cor. 12:7 says,“But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.” Verse 11 says, “But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.” And, then, God’s Word doesn’t say anything about “partnering” with angels. Additionally, on a Sid Roth program he described a time when a huge ball of light was dancing over his bedroom dresser that illuminated the whole room with the ‘Glory of God,’ which Goll says opened the door of nine straight weeks of visitations that would go from midnight to 5 a.m. Other nights there would be dozens of glory orbs floating around the room.(https://standupforthetruth.com/2014/07/james-golls-angel-visitations-orbs-and-new-audible-propehcy-from-jesus/) (However, there is nothing in God’s Word to indicate we should expect these types of encounters. Sadly, though, many people are taken in by such experiences).
“The Passion Translation is a refreshing, dynamic version of the ancient Scriptures. Most translations of the Bible communicate what God has said, but The Passion Translation communicates equally God’s heart behind the words. It is a beautiful, moving read.” Wesley and Stacey Campbell (This couple has been quite involved with the Toronto Revival; they are part of the Apostolic Team of Harvest International Ministries as we mentioned at the beginning; Stacey Campbell prophesied over Todd Bentley at his commissioning, by a group of NAR apostles, at the Lakeland Revival in 2008; and, she also gave Pope Francis a word of knowledge that he would become the next pope while he was still Cardinal Bergoglio.
“I would highly recommend the Passion Translation as a secondary version. So you’re reading through the Bible and you’re wanting another translation, or you want to read, let’s just read through this in the Passion Translation and see how it flows, and then go back and compare with the translations I normally use.” (Michael Brown - author, professor, and a noted proponent of Messianic Judaism. He hosts the radio program “Line of Fire.” Dr. Brown Answers Your Questions, YouTube, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OESYGH4SCog, Streamed live on Oct 13, 2017). (He has a PHD in near Eastern languages which includes Hebrew. So, it’s quite surprising that someone with such a degree would endorse this translation even as a secondary source. But, Dr. Brown has been known to promote those in the NAR all the while pretending to not know it exists, as crazy as that sounds).
Now, I want to share part of an article written by Brian Simmons which was featured on the Elijah List entitled: "A New Jeremiah Generation - More Anointed Than You Can Imagine!" This is from Jul 20, 2018.
In it he says, “The Jeremiah Generation will be granted amazing authority over nations!” Then he quotes Jer. 1:10: "See, today I appoint you over nations and kingdoms to uproot and tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and to plant."
He continues: “A new generation is rising that will be seen as the JEREMIAH GENERATION! They'll be full of the Word of God in their mouths and wearing no masks. The favor of God will soon fall on a generation of young adults that want nothing more than Jesus! They will UPROOT old mindsets, hierarchies of thinking that have boxed out the bigness of God and limited the eternal to man's old opinions and dusty doctrines of limitation. This uprooting will soon be seen by a captured generation of love-sick worshippers, sold out for spiritual awakening. They will TEAR DOWN the walls of division, competition and cheesy, outdated modes of ministry that never worked well in the first place.” (http://elijahlist.com/words/display_word.html?ID=20515)(Well, sadly, he shows quite a bit of disdain for the truths of God’s Word with the phrase “dusty doctrines of limitation” and then “outdated modes of ministry that never worked well in the first place.” Simply preaching the gospel and making disciples is apparently not exciting enough for him since he’s had these demonic encounters. And, we are to love God, of course, but the phrase “love-sick worshippers” is just creepy. And, then, since he quotes Jer. 1:10 we need to read this verse in context, so I want to read a few verses before verse 10. Jer. 1:1 “The words of Jeremiah the son of Hilkiah, of the priests that were in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin: 2 To whom the word of the Lord came in the days of Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign. 4 Then the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, 5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. 9 Then the Lord put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the Lord said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth. 10 See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.” This is just one example of the way NAR proponents rip scriptures out of context to supposedly prove their dominion theology of having authority over nations, taking nations, “Christianizing” nations, and so forth. All of the pronouns above of me, thee, and thou and then the phrases “To whom the word of the Lord came” and “the word of the Lord came unto me” all demonstrate to whom these verses were directed and that is Jeremiah. There is no such thing as a Jeremiah generation or a Joseph, or Esther, or Daniel generation. The NAR spends a lot of time attempting to convince people that God has a specific assignment for them as He did for these Bible characters. But, as New Testament believers, our commission is to preach the gospel and make disciples).
I had wanted to share some from a message he preached at a NAR church in Australia, but we are running short on time so I will just include the link for anyone who wants to understand his theology more. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8yMLyHzxqsg Brian Simmons // Glory of the Last Days)
Well, that is all I have for this time, sister Tammy, except to ask the listeners to warn their families and friends about this translation. Members of these congregations are used to hearing the words and phrases that are specific to NAR-speak in weekly messages and in books by Bill Johnson and others, but now with these words and phrases being included in this supposed Bible, they will feel validated in their beliefs and that is just heartbreaking.
And, also, just to mention, Brian Simmons is a Preterist. He teaches the Book of Revelation “has nothing to do with the Second Coming.” Instead the Book of Revelation is an allegory of the “Christian interior life.” Brian teaches no future judgment, no future Tribulation, no future Antichrist, only a golden age of the Church to take over the world. (https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1928193540568014&set=pcb.1928193780567990&type=3&__tn__=HH-R&eid=ARD2rurxuTaW5_A0-47Xk8xTMoZsBnpFwSIUSxYCHyJo3-_q2uJXhGhwvIStNWF_NjpjTVi7vMETVCJq)
So, that is all tremendously concerning, of course.
Just to note that the following quote, “inserting so much new material into the text that it is at least 50% longer than the original,” specifically applies to the Psalms, but there is much added text in all the books of the Bible Brian Simmons has translated. I just do not have a specific figure on the other parts.
